Q&A With Arianne About Her Modern White Farmhouse

Introductions…

Arianne is a content creator and interior stylist who started her Instagram account back in 2016 and has grow it to a huge following today.

She lives in California and the account Arianne runs is: @millhousestyle

Rooms Solutions had the opportunity to have a chat with her and ask her a few questions about how she created such a gorgeous home.

What factors determined how you arranged the furniture in your living room?

There are three things I believe are really important when arranging my living room furniture.

I have to consider each of them carefully or the space doesn’t feel right at all and, in fact, a well-designed room doesn’t feel like it’s been designed in the slightest.

The first one is the flow of the room.

You need to be able to get to circulate the room as freely as possible. An open floor plan makes this easy to navigate.

Open pathways are essential for keeping the flow, I want the rooms to appear as big as they can be too.

I also want the room to feel cozy. I want to live in home that not only looks great but also has a calming, peaceful atmosphere.

You like to keep your living space simple – why is this important to you?

A clean space means a clear mind!

Clutter causes people to be overwhelmed and I’m not a fan of that, it’s much better to be relaxed at home, don’t you think?

Less is more and, for me, truly loving the items chosen for my home means I can allow myself to get rid of all the unnecessary items that we all accumulate over time.

natural fiber rug and outdoor bench

We’ve noticed the use of natural fiber rugs throughout the house, what is it about natural fiber rugs that you love and where did you buy yours?

I try to mix, woods, whites, and natural fibers.

By keeping the rugs neutral, I can add pattern and color by using throw pillows and flowers.

I shop at Pottery Barn, Cost Plus World Market and Rugs USA always has the best deals

How did you overcome the typical challenges of styling a kitchen and bathroom?

Decide what you really want.

My advice is to spend the extra money on the cabinetry and flooring, they’re worth the extra price because they’re often the main features of a kitchen or bathroom.

Also, I choose accessories that aren’t expensive because styles change overtime and sometimes the accessories can look dated and tacky.

What advice do you have for those who are still trying to find their own style?

Think about what truly makes you happy in your home and make sure it’s added to the decor.

Trends come and go, find a timeless interior design style and sit with the idea.

If you love it, incorporate it into your home.

If you no longer love an item – donate it or sell it, I constantly edit my home so only the things I truly love remain.

Great article. I love your home. It’s so calm and chic. Great tips to consider as I will soon be remodeling the kitchen. I was debating if I should invest in new floors.
